The Tukwila Community Center is looking to hire a Recreation Program Site Supervisor to help support youth and teen day camp summer programs. This is a great opportunity to serve as a positive role model and make a difference in your community!
As a Recreation Program Site Supervisor,you will play a seasonal role responsible for the administration and implementation of the Summer Day Camp and Teen Camp Program and reports to the Enrichment Recreation Program Coordinator Position. This includes the day-to-day programming and managing of camp staff and the ability to engage in specific duties as outlined in this job description, or as directed from one in a supervisory position.
This is a seasonal/temporary position and will not exceed 1040 hours. These positions are also not eligible for health benefits or retirement.Work Schedule and Hours
Work schedules will vary based on summer camp needs. The Recreation Site Supervisor may be scheduled for up to eight (8) hours per day and up to forty (40) hours per week.
Program hours may include:
Summer Camps: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. actual schedule to be determined, with shifts starting as early as 7:15 a.m.
- Onboarding and training will begin in May; programs will begin in June.You must be available to attend onboarding and trainings.
- Schedules may be adjusted based on business need to ensure proper coverage is met.
- Ability to maintain reasonable, predictable, and regular attendance during assigned shifts.
Wage: $28.00 per hour

- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the participants and staff while at camp.
- Safeguards program staff and participants and provides for a clean and safe working environment.
- Responsible for completing and maintaining proper forms, reports, and information for the camp staff, participants and parents.
- Plan, organize, implement and lead age and grade appropriate activities and curriculum for camps
- Coordinate day-to-day operations such as planning schedules for programs, seasonal staff, trips and special events.
- Build strong relationships with parents, participants and coworkers.
- Handles discipline problems with campers and staff according to department procedure.
- Responsible for tracking and coordinating equipment and supply orders (as needed).
- Ability to communicate well with parents on discipline and other participant communication.
- Serves as primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing any concerns and providing updates about Camp activities and policies.
- Assists in coordinating staff schedules as well as daily camp schedules.
- Provides feedback on staff performance.
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van with teen camp participants to offsite camp field trips.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining designated camp vans.
- Perform other duties as required.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, feel, talk, hear, see, and participate in recreational activities for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and supplies.
- Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment handling and activity facilitation.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly for program or event set up and take downs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum 21 years old;
- Minimum of two-years’ experience in a similar work environment of which at least 6-months was in a supervisory role.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to submit a clean Driving Abstract
- Previous experience working or volunteering in youth programs, recreation programs, camps, or customer service settings.
- Must be physically capable of assisting and participating in physical activities.
- Strong interest in leading activities for youth, including arts, sports, and games.
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain prior to the first day of camp.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College-level coursework in Recreation, Education, or related field (preferred)
- Preferred experience as a Recreation Leader 1 and Recreation Leader 2
- Familiarity with recreation program structure, curriculum, or policies
Licenses, Certifications, and Special Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification prior to the first day of camp.
- Must be physically capable of assisting and participating in recreational and physical activities
- Valid Driver's License.
Definition: Clean Driving Record
For purposes of this position, a clean driving record means:
- A driving history that meets the City’s risk management and insurance eligibility requirements
- No disqualifying driving offenses within the past three (3) years, including but not limited to:
- Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Physical Control
- Reckless driving
- Hit-and-run
- Vehicular assault or vehicular homicide
- Driving with a suspended, revoked, or invalid license
- No pattern of unsafe driving, such as multiple moving violations that would indicate unsafe operation of a motor vehicle
- Ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review conducted in accordance with:
- Washington State law
- Federal motor vehicle safety standards (as applicable)
- City policies and insurance requirements
