Seasonal - Pool Attendant

The Pool Attendant serves as the welcoming face of the Aqua Academy Program and plays a key role in creating a positive, organized, and professional experience for participants and families. This position is responsible for greeting guests, answering questions about swim lessons and APRD programs, supporting facility operations, and assisting instructors and managers to ensure lessons run smoothly and efficiently.Customer Service & Front Desk Support
  • Greet families and participants in a friendly, professional manner
  • Answering questions regarding swim lessons and all APRD programs
  • Provide accurate information regarding schedules, registration, policies, and procedures
  • Escalate participant concerns or policy violations to the Assistant Pool Manager or Recreation Supervisor when necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information in accordance with department policies
  • Provide consistent, accurate information to all patrons
  • Maintain a positive and calm demeanor during high-traffic periods
  • Always represent APRD in a professional manner
Program Support
  • Help maintain an organized and welcoming lesson environment
  • Ensure parents/guardians remain in designated viewing areas
  • Support swim instructors and Swim Lesson Managers with various operational needs
  • Assist with lesson transitions and help maintain smooth program flow
  • Prepare incoming classes so they are ready to swim and in the right spots at the beginning of the next lesson
  • Ensure that participants are appropriately registered for Aqua Academy and not on the waitlist
Facility Support
  • Assist with light cleaning duties as needed to maintain a safe and professional facility appearance
  • Monitor front desk and lobby areas to ensure cleanliness and organization
  • Communicate facility concerns or needs to supervisors
  • Assist with implementing emergency procedures as directed by aquatics leadership

  • Ability to work outdoors in heat
  • Ability to move between deck and lobby areas

Preferred Qualities
  • Knowledge of APRD programs and policies
  • Experience working in aquatics or recreational environments
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused during busy times
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to prioritize the list of job responsibilities so things get done or addressed when it’s most necessary to do so
  • Awareness of emergency procedures
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and retain program policies, procedures, and seasonal updates in order to provide accurate and consistent information to patrons
Department: Parks & Recreation – Aquatics
Reports To: Assistant Pool Manager/ Recreation Supervisor
Hours: Approximately 15–18 hours per week – during all swim lessons programming
Schedule: Primarily Monday–Thursday; additional hours as needed
Work Environment
  • Erb or Mead Pools – outdoor aquatic facility
  • Frequent interaction with children, families, and staff
  • May require standing for extended periods
  • May require working in the summer heat while outside
