The City of Tukwila is hiring Facility Attendants serving as Summer Ambassadors to assist residents and visitors during anticipated high-traffic periods throughout the community. This is a temporary, seasonal part-time position assigned to support the City of Tukwila Parks and Recreation during the six-week period of the major international soccer event taking place in Seattle this summer.

Summer Ambassadors will serve as a friendly, visible presence throughout the City, helping create a welcoming environment for guests and community members. Staff will be stationed at key public locations such as parks, trails, community gathering areas, and special events, providing customer service, answering questions, and sharing information about Tukwila amenities, recreation opportunities, and event activities.

This position plays an important role in enhancing visitor experience, supporting safe and organized public spaces, and representing the City of Tukwila with professionalism and hospitality.

Summer Ambassadors will assist recreation and city staff by helping guide visitors, monitoring activity in public areas, supporting event operations when needed, and communicating important information to patrons. This position requires excellent customer service skills, strong communication, and the ability to work independently while remaining attentive to the needs of the public.

This is a physically demanding position that requires extended periods of standing, walking, and moving throughout outdoor locations, including trails and event spaces. Work will take place in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions.

Summer Ambassadors are expected to represent the City of Tukwila in a positive and professional manner, ensuring that residents and visitors have a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience while visiting the community.

Work Hours

  • Work hours will vary based on event schedules, peak visitation times, international soccer game schedule and operational needs during the event period beginning June 11th – July 19th.
  • Onboarding and training will begin in May; programs will begin in June. You must be available to attend onboarding and training.
  • Specific dates include but are not limited to: June 11,13,15,16,19,24- 26, June 29- July 1, July 6, 9, 10, 14,15, 18 and 19.

This is a seasonal/temporary position and will not exceed 1040 hours. These positions are also not eligible for health benefits or retirement.

Wage:$25.00 per hour

Customer Service & Community Engagement

  • Serve as a welcoming and visible ambassador for the City of Tukwila by greeting and assisting residents, visitors, and event attendees in high-traffic public areas.
  • Provide accurate information about local parks, trails, recreation programs, community amenities, transportation options, and event activities.
  • Answer questions and offer directions to help visitors navigate Tukwila parks, trails, and nearby destinations.
  • Support a positive visitor experience by maintaining a friendly, helpful, and professional presence at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse community members, visitors, and event participants.


Public Space Monitoring & Visitor Support

  • Maintain a visible presence in assigned locations such as parks, trails, public gathering areas, and event sites during peak visitation periods.
  • Monitor public spaces to promote safe and respectful use of facilities and amenities.
  • Observe and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or unusual activity to supervisors or appropriate city staff.
  • Provide assistance to visitors who may need help locating amenities, accessing programs, or navigating public spaces.
  • Support crowd awareness and help maintain safe flow of visitors during large events or busy periods.
  • Respond appropriately to minor incidents or visitor concerns and report incidents according to department procedures.


Event & Program Support

  • Assist Parks & Recreation staff with special events, activation areas, and community programming as assigned.
  • Help with basic set-up and take-down of event materials, signage, or activity areas.
  • Support event operations by helping direct participants, answering questions, and assisting with general event logistics.


Administrative & Team Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and orientation sessions as required.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors and team members regarding conditions, visitor needs, and operational updates.
  • Represent the City of Tukwila and the Parks & Recreation Department in a professional and positive manner.
  • Perform other duties that are similar, related, or logically assigned to support visitor services, events, and recreation operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 21 years old;
  • Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Six (6) months of experience in customer service, recreation, education, or similar environment.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Must be physically capable of assisting and participating in physical activities.


Special Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with limited notice, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to submit a clean Driving Abstract.


Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors within the city limits of Tukwila.
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
  • Work involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and interacting with the public for extended periods.


Definition: Clean Driving Record

For purposes of this position, a clean driving record means:

  • A driving history that meets the City’s risk management and insurance eligibility requirements.
  • No disqualifying driving offenses within the past three (3) years, including but not limited to:
    • Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Physical Control
    • Reckless driving
    • Hit-and-run
    • Vehicular assault or vehicular homicide
    • Driving with a suspended, revoked, or invalid license
  • No pattern of unsafe driving, such as multiple moving violations that would indicate unsafe operation of a motor vehicle
  • Ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review conducted in accordance with:
    • Washington State law
    • Federal motor vehicle safety standards (as applicable)
    • City policies and insurance requirements
