Job Summary The SDMP Systems Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, andassisting in rapid delivery of applicable technologies and prototype systems for Division customers. This role helps customers articulate operational needs and translates those to assist in identifying applicable technologies that could meet those needs. It will be as important to the customer to discard quickly, those technologies that will not add operational value rapidly. The position applies operational experience, systems engineering process and technology awareness to lead teams through robust but accelerated analysis of alternatives. That analysis will typically deliver at least a Technical Readiness Level Five solution/offering.
Responsibilities - Identify emerging requirements across DoW and federal agencies through proactive engagement with operators, program offices, and acquisition stakeholders to understand evolving needs and upcoming contract vehicles.
- As an application systems engineer, build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders through development and presentation of comprehensive OV-1 level ConOps solutions with supporting reference architectures
- Lead collaborative, multi-discipline teams embracing systems engineering processes to bring rapid and thorough assessments of candidate technologies
- Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for analysis of requirements and systems performance.
- Analyzes and interprets data collected.
- Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal.
- Conducts and/or leads small technical projects or tasks of technical projects.
- May provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.
- Assists with proposal efforts. May prepare technical sections of proposals.
- Builds relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results. Communicates with client with regard to the schedule and quality of deliverables.
- Contributes to IR&D studies.
- Supports business development efforts led by others and secures follow-on work.
- May assist with the coordination of and participation in Battelle-sponsored conferences.
- May participate in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increases company visibility through publications.
- Oversees, mentors and trains lower-level staff.

Work Environment:
This position operates ina remote and field environment, with frequent interaction with customers and partners. Travel may include visits to government locations and maritime facilities.

Key Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience or PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
