A rapidly growing biotechnology company in the alternative protein space is seeking a Contract Scientist to support its Research & Development team. This organization is focused on advancing innovative cell-based technologies aimed at transforming the future of food production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and optimize a variety of analytical assays including cell-based and molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, plate-based assays)
  • Perform mammalian cell culture activities such as expansion, cryopreservation, and 3D culture systems
  • Support cell line and media characterization efforts through experimental design and data generation
  • Prepare reagents, media, and buffers for use in both small-scale and bioreactor-based systems
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of analytical methods and workflows
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate results effectively with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–4+ years of hands-on laboratory experience (industry experience preferred)
  • Strong experience with mammalian cell culture and analytical instrumentation
  • Familiarity with 3D cell culture systems or organoid models is a plus
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA/RNA/protein workflows, PCR, ELISA) is advantageous
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Prism, JMP, or Minitab
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment while managing timelines effectively
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
