Scientific Data Analyst (Junior) – Public Health Analytics

We are seeking a Junior Scientific Data Analyst to support epidemiology and healthcare quality analytics initiatives under senior scientific guidance.

This role focuses on structured scientific data work, reproducible analytics, and documentation used in public‑health surveillance and reporting workflows.


Role Overview

The Scientific Data Analyst will support investigators and senior analysts working with healthcare surveillance datasets. Responsibilities are execution‑focused and centered on data quality, repeatable analysis workflows, and documented analytical outputs.

The position requires onsite presence in Atlanta for secure dataset access and collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality control on healthcare surveillance datasets
  • Develop and maintain well‑documented R and/or Python scripts for data preparation and analysis
  • Produce descriptive analyses, summary tables, and trend outputs under senior guidance
  • Maintain data dictionaries, change logs, and study documentation
  • Support preparation of tables and figures for internal scientific reviews and reporting
  • Assist with data preparation for modeling and structured analytics tasks as requested
  • Participate in program meetings and onsite working sessions


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Data Science, or related field)
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (academic research, internships, or professional experience acceptable)
  • Working knowledge of R and/or Python with emphasis on clean, reproducible code
  • Experience working with structured datasets and repeatable QC workflows
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).


Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to public‑health surveillance or healthcare analytics
  • Basic SQL skills for data extraction and reconciliation
  • Experience supporting scientific or structured reporting workflows


Additional Details

  • Work Authorization: USC, GC, CPT‑40, OPT, OPT‑EXT, H4‑EAD
  • Employment Type: W2 only (no C2C / no 1099)
  • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and interview feedback
  • Duration: Long‑term contract through December 2027, with potential extension based on program needs
