POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work. It is required that candidates attach a PDF, or a screen shot of their certifications. Preference is given to those candidates that hold a Licensed Clinical Social Work Certification (LCSW). A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience, with at least one (1) year experience working with an alternative education or community/school collaboration is preferable.

Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities.

JOB SUMMARY:
Position requires the planning, organization, and implementation of the appropriate program to address the social, emotional needs of the students; to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their potential in both curricular and extracurricular activities.

These Intensive Needs positions require specialized skills and training. As such, the salary schedule for Intensive Needs positions shall be four hundred dollars ($400) above the regular salary schedule.

Appointed teachers to the Intensive Needs program will remain in place for a minimum of three (3) years.

Appointed staff will be required to participate in training in July and/or August at the contractual rate of pay.

DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image.
  • Processing and facilitating on-going services for students with disabilities and their families.
  • Recommend appropriate behavioral interventions including implementation of skills/strategies/supports supported through a district appointed crisis management program.
  • Provide job embedded coaching and modeling for teachers/staff on implementing social/emotional supports.
  • Collect, analyze and progress monitor social/emotional data.
  • Develop a system of tracking outcomes to illustrate the impact of interventions.
  • Interface with district staff and parents to address social/emotional needs.
  • Collaborate, plan and partner with staff assigned to the district agency setting.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare class activities as related to social/emotional learning.
  • Social skill development, and educational opportunities.
  • Acting as a key member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of instructional personnel, behavioral specialist, and other team members as required.
  • Schedule and conduct home visitation conferences, obtain consents as necessary and gather comprehensive social histories for students.
  • Administer adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures.
  • Secure outside data needed to prepare for CSE meetings and perform classroom observations when needed.
  • Work individually or in groups with students in need of support services and counseling
  • Offer strategies and support to parents
  • Serve as a consultant to teachers
  • Implement PBIS
  • Perform any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.
