Scala Engineer — Contract (2 openings)

Contract until end of year, extension likely

Charlotte, North Carolina — hybrid, 2–3 days on site

Up to $125 per hour

About the Client

An established US fintech serving millions of consumers nationwide. One of our long-standing clients, with two roles open on the same team.

Role Overview

Backend engineering role contributing to the platform’s core services and internal data platform. You’ll build and maintain service-to-service integrations, work on third-party integrations that extend the product’s data coverage, and develop automation across build, test, deployment, and monitoring.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years backend engineering experience
• Strong Scala — or strong Java with some Scala exposure, willing to pick it up
• Messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS
• Microservices architecture, API design, and client/server contracts
• Kubernetes and container technologies
• SQL, relational schema design, and ORM concepts
• Production deployment and infrastructure experience
• Agile / Scrum background
• Able to mentor and coach other engineers

Interview Process

Two stages — a behavioral round with the hiring manager, then a CoderPad-style coding challenge. Moving quickly.
