Job Title: Saw/Machine Operator | 2nd or 3rd Shift | $22-24/HR

Job Description

This role operates saw equipment and material-handling machinery on 2nd or 3rd shift to cut, stage, and package metal products according to customer specifications. The position focuses on safely and efficiently processing feedstock, accurately completing documentation in computerized systems, and maintaining high productivity in finished goods production.

Responsibilities

  • Select and stage feedstock materials to fulfill customer orders according to specifications.
  • Operate saw equipment, including bandsaws, to cut materials to required dimensions.
  • Break down bulk bundles into customer-specific quantities and configurations.
  • Package materials in line with customer requirements to ensure safe and accurate shipment.
  • Operate sit-down and side-loader forklifts to safely move materials throughout the facility.
  • Use a computer to confirm and process SAP work orders for shipping and receiving.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation.
  • Maintain maximum productivity in finished goods production while meeting quality standards.
  • Perform general labor and machine operation tasks as needed to support production flow.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and adherence to facility guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with responsibilities subject to change as operational needs evolve.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to successfully complete a skills-based assessment covering reading comprehension, mathematical ability, inspection and measurement accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
  • At least two years of related work experience preferred in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate saw equipment or similar machinery in a production setting.
  • Experience performing general labor and machine operation tasks in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, including sit-down and side-loader units, or willingness to learn.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance with a strong sense of responsibility and punctuality.
  • Basic math proficiency to perform measurements, counts, and simple calculations.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using computerized systems for work orders and documentation.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including passing evaluations for vision, hearing, and mobility.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate cutting, measuring, inspection, and packaging of materials.
  • Willingness to participate in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding and new-hire training.
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift as scheduled.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CNC saw or bandsaw experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is desirable.
  • Overhead crane experience is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in steel, metals, or heavy industrial environments is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

This is a 2nd or 3rd shift position in an industrial production and warehouse setting that handles steel and other metal products. You will work around saws, forklifts, and other heavy equipment in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment that requires strict adherence to safety procedures. The company provides all required personal protective equipment, including sleeves, hard hat, and safety glasses. A uniform program begins in the second week through a professional provider; during the first week you should wear clothing suitable for getting dirty in an industrial setting. The facility emphasizes safety, proper PPE usage, and teamwork while using technologies such as SAP and computer-based work order systems, as well as forklifts, saws, and other material-handling equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Strongsville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
