SAP FICO Functional Expert

Summary
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an SAP FICO Functional Expert to join its team onsite in Calhoun, GA. This role supports the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of SAP Finance and Controlling modules. The position combines technical expertise with business acumen to align SAP capabilities with financial operations and drive meaningful business outcomes.
The SAP FICO Functional Expert is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting SAP Finance and Controlling solutions. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders to analyze financial processes, gather requirements, design scalable solutions, and support system enhancements. The role plays a key part in bridging finance operations and SAP technology, ensuring systems are effective, efficient, and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Analysis and Solution Design
- Gather and document business requirements across finance and controlling functions
- Translate business needs into SAP FICO solutions aligned with best practices
- Design end-to-end process flows for Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, and Order-to-Cash
SAP Configuration and Implementation
- Configure FI modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, and Tax
- Configure CO modules including Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, and COPA
- Set up organizational structures, master data, and financial closing processes
- Support integration with other SAP modules including MM, SD, PP, and HR
Testing and Documentation
- Develop functional specifications for RICEFW objects
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing
- Prepare configuration documentation, process flows, and training materials
Production Support and Continuous Improvement
- Troubleshoot SAP FICO issues and provide timely resolution
- Identify opportunities to optimize financial processes and enhance system functionality
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with finance teams, auditors, and IT teams across the organization
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to end users
- Support system upgrades, rollouts, and S/4HANA initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field
Technical Skills
- Strong SAP FI and CO configuration experience
- Solid understanding of financial accounting and controlling processes
- Experience with S/4HANA Finance, Universal Journal, and Fiori is preferred
- Familiarity with integration points across SAP modules
- Ability to write functional specifications for technical teams
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with a process-driven mindset
Experience
- 7–10+ years of SAP FICO experience
- Experience with full lifecycle SAP implementations is highly valued
Nice to Have
- Experience with SAP Activate methodology
- Exposure to global templates and multi-country rollouts
- Knowledge of tax engines, electronic invoicing, or Treasury
- Familiarity with data migration tools such as LTMC, BAPIs, or LSMW
Certifications
- SAP FICO certification is a plus
