General Laborer / Sand Blaster - 1st Shift - $18x hour

Job Description

This role focuses on sandblasting and general metalworking in a metal fabrication and finishing facility. You will use sandblasting equipment and various metalworking machines to prepare and clean metal parts, pieces, and assembled goods for subsequent production steps such as painting and powder coating. The position requires reliability, strong attention to detail, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality work on an evening shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sandblasting equipment to prepare and clean a wide variety of metal surfaces for the next step in the production or manufacturing process.
  • Clean and prepare parts, pieces, and constructed metal goods in advance of painting, powder coating, or other finishing operations.
  • Set up and operate metalworking machinery such as shears, brake presses, punch presses, and other fabrication equipment as needed.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to support general labor and metalworking tasks.
  • Measure materials accurately using tape measures and other basic measuring tools to ensure precise cuts and fabrication.
  • Handle, move, and position metal materials and finished parts, including lifting or moving items weighing over 75 pounds when required.
  • Follow established corrosion-control methods and processes when preparing surfaces for finishing, where applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while operating sandblasting and metalworking equipment.
  • Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance to support production schedules and team workflows.

Essential Skills

  • Experience using sandblasting tools and equipment in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of corrosion-control methods and surface preparation processes for metal parts.
  • Ability to lift or move items weighing over 75 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Experience with general metalworking, including working with various metal materials and components.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools commonly used in metal fabrication and finishing.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and fabrication tasks.
  • Strong reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work an 8-hour evening shift, Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating metalworking machinery such as shears, brake presses, and punch presses.
  • Previous experience in a metal fabrication, metal finishing, or manufacturing facility.
  • Comfort working with abrasive cleaning processes and powder coating preparation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other departments and disciplines within the facility.

Work Environment

You will work in a metal fabrication and finishing facility that specializes in abrasive cleaning, powder coating, laser cutting, and related services. The environment is production-focused and hands-on, with frequent use of sandblasting equipment, metalworking machinery such as shears, brake presses, and punch presses, as well as various hand tools and power tools. Typical schedules are 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 1st shift of approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The facility is designed for handling metal parts and assemblies from design and repair work through abrasive cleaning and powder coating, and you should be comfortable working in an industrial setting with active machinery, metal materials, and physical labor throughout the shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Birdsboro, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
