Site Safety Professional (Utility-Scale Solar)
Location: Harrodsburg, Kentucky (On-site)

Project Scope: Overhead power lines, site fencing, full electrical scope, and potential civil/earthwork scope
Compensation & Perks
- Hourly Rate: Up to $45.00/hour
- Overtime: Substantial hours available; expecting a 60 to 70-hour work week
- Per Diem: $150.00/day (paid 7 days a week)
Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, bilingual Site Safety Professional to oversee field safety compliance for a major 158 MW utility-scale solar construction project in Kentucky. This role is heavily field-focused, ensuring all on-site construction and subcontracted activities are performed in strict compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific policies.
The project is tracking for a mid-June start date. This is a long-term contract role (approximately one year) with the ultimate organizational goal of transitioning the right individual into a permanent, direct-hire position within the first six months.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Safety Oversight: Enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols for a peak workforce of 75 to 80 personnel on-site across civil, fencing, overhead, and extensive electrical scopes.
- Bilingual Training & Communication: Confidently lead daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations fluently in both English and Spanish to support a diverse workforce.
- Audits & Inspections: Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety audits, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). Proactively identify physical hazards and enforce immediate corrective actions.
- Electrical & Civil Safety Compliance: Maintain rigid enforcement of NFPA 70E standards across all high-voltage electrical installations and overhead work, alongside standard civil/trenching hazards.
- Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause investigations for any incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions, providing fully documented corrective action plans.
- Collaborative Reporting: Partner closely with the on-site project management team. Coordinate and interface with a visiting internal Safety Manager and corporate Safety Director during their bi-weekly or monthly site audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
Mandatory Solar & Renewable Experience:
- Strict Industry Requirement: Previous field safety experience working directly on utility-scale renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, EV Infrastructure, or BESS) is absolutely required. Candidates without verifiable utility-scale renewable experience will not be considered.
- Minimum 2–5 years of dedicated construction safety management experience.
Mandatory Credentials & Language Skills:
- Language: Must be fully bilingual (English and Spanish, both verbal and written).
- Certifications: OSHA 500 (or higher) AND a current NFPA 70E certification are strict, non-negotiable requirements.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep, practical understanding of OSHA construction standards and electrical hazard mitigation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying seasonal weather conditions.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of heavy field experience and advanced safety certifications will be highly valued.
