Job Description: Safety Policy & Procedure Auditor (Contract)
Location: Hinkley, CA (Hybrid - 1-2 days per week on-site)
Duration: 2 Months (High Urgency)
Reports to: Plant Manager / Compliance & Permitting Manager
Role Overview
The Safety Policy & Procedure Auditor will lead a targeted, two-month initiative to align site-specific safety documentation with Cal/OSHA Title 8 standards and prepare for upcoming ISO certification audits. This is a technical, administrative-focused role. The consultant will focus exclusively on the "clean-up," reconciliation, and regulatory validation of written procedures, programs, and safety records.
Key Responsibilities
Program Audit & Alignment: Conduct a comprehensive gap analysis and update the following Cal/OSHA mandated programs and plans:
Records Management: Review and reconcile workplace exposure and monitoring records to ensure administrative compliance.
Policy Reconciliation: Ensure that written procedures match the actual forms and workflows used by plant operations (e.g., Hot Work, LOTO).
Audit Preparation: Identify and correct "findings" from previous audits to ensure the facility meets requirements for upcoming ISO certification in May.
Collaborative Review: Work closely with the Safety Manager and Compliance Manager (1-2 days per week on-site) to discuss findings and finalize documentation.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Regulatory Knowledge
Expertise in Cal/OSHA Title 8 standards and California Energy Commission (CEC) requirements.
Programmatic Experience
Direct experience drafting or auditing the specific Cal/OSHA programs listed above (IIPP, LOTO, HazCom, etc.).
Audit Expertise
Proven track record in safety auditing, technical writing, or ISO certification preparation within industrial environments.
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in document control, versioning, and administrative recordkeeping.
Execution Style
High attention to detail with the ability to meet strict 60-day project deadlines.
