Position Overview
Francison Consulting, Inc., is looking for a Safety Assistant Manager II to join our team in supporting Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), including LAX, by providing safety oversight on assigned construction projects. This role works directly with contractors, LAWA inspection teams, and Project Management to ensure compliance with contract documents and the implementation of effective safety and security programs across vertical, tunnel, and heavy civil construction projects
Work Schedule
10:00 PM to 6:30 AM (graveyard shift)
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Contractor Safety Teams, LAWA Inspection Teams, and Project Management to ensure implementation of safety programs
- Conduct regular and frequent site walks across assigned projects to monitor safety conditions and compliance
- Perform Task Hazard Analysis audits and document safety observations using LAWA safety systems
- Meet with LAWA Inspectors and stakeholders to address safety concerns and track corrective actions
- Review contractor Safety Plans and verify field compliance with safety procedures
- Verify contractor compliance with required safety documentation including toolbox meetings, safety inspections, incident reports, and training records
- Attend project progress meetings, safety committee meetings, and Construction Safety Advisory Council meetings as directed
- Prepare clear and effective safety reports and documentation
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and support safety training initiatives
- Promote and support behavior-based safety programs and continuous improvement efforts
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with safety requirements and program goals
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Active BCSP Construction Health and Safety Technician certification required
- Minimum five years of experience providing safety oversight on vertical, tunnel, or heavy civil construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and practices
- Ability to write detailed safety reports and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and construction management software such as PMWeb
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory experience overseeing safety personnel
- Bilingual communication skills
- Experience delivering OSHA training
- CPR and First Aid instructor certification
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work night shift and flexible hours, including weekends or extended hours as needed
- May be required to conduct Cal OSHA training within six months of hire
- Must pass federal background check and obtain LAWA security badge with required clearances
- Must be able to access the Air Operations Area and travel between project sites
- Ability to walk multiple miles daily across active construction sites
