Job Title: Rotomold Machine Operator
Job Description

The Rotomold Machine Operator oversees the safe and efficient operation of rotational molding equipment to produce high-quality plastic parts. This role includes machine setup, operation, basic maintenance, and quality inspection while following detailed process sheets and work instructions. The operator works closely with other team members across shifts to maintain consistent production standards in a clean manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate the rotomold machine, including complete setup and shutdown according to established work instructions.
  • Adjust machine temperatures and other process parameters to achieve proper material cure and part quality.
  • Fill buckets with powder, load and unload molds, pull completed parts, and perform scraping and cleaning as required.
  • Prepare molds properly, including applying mold release, cleaning parting lines, and verifying burn time, temperature, and cooling parameters.
  • Apply a solid understanding of the rotational molding process, basic mechanics, and minor machine maintenance to maintain smooth operations.
  • Recognize the characteristics of standard resins, determine proper cure, and verify cure quality during production.
  • Ensure that all produced parts meet defined quality standards, including critical dimensions and characteristics.
  • Read, interpret, and follow molding process sheets accurately, correct errors when possible, and report issues to a supervisor or lead.
  • Conduct and document first part inspections to approve machine setup before continuing production.
  • Use appropriate measuring and inspection methods to maintain consistency and compliance with quality specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and team members on prior and subsequent shifts to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of production.
  • Organize and clean the work area at the end of each shift to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Stock and replenish production materials in an organized and appropriate manner.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly in support of molding and finishing operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and quality goals.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years of blueprint reading experience to understand part requirements and critical dimensions.
  • At least 2 years of experience in injection molding or rotational molding operations.
  • Proficiency in operating rotomold or injection molding machines and related production equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed work instructions and molding process sheets.
  • Knowledge of the rotational molding process, including mold preparation, mold release, cleaning parting lines, burn time, temperature, and cooling.
  • Understanding of standard resins, proper cure characteristics, and methods to check cure quality.
  • Ability to perform first part inspections and ongoing quality checks to verify dimensions and part characteristics.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with coworkers, supervisors, and other shifts.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Capability to organize and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and documentation in a production setting.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for minor machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Comfort working with production materials such as plastic resins and molding powders.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in following standardized processes.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple shifts and collaborate with different teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean manufacturing environment that follows ISO 9001:2015 standards. The position offers openings on 1st shift (Monday through Friday) and on either 2nd or 3rd shift, with a structured progression scale that provides pay increases every three months during the first year. New hires start on 1st shift for several months of training before moving to their regular shift; during training, shift differentials do not apply. The work involves operating rotomold and related molding machinery, handling powders and resins, and using hand tools and power tools. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and cleanliness, and requires standing, moving around equipment, and working near industrial machinery throughout the shift. Dress typically aligns with standard manufacturing expectations, including appropriate work clothing and any required personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40000.00 - $45000.00/yr.
