The Role:
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and hands‑on Robotic Lab Technician to support our growing robotics
laboratory operations. In this role, you will work directly with maintaining and bringing up robotic
systems, inventory management, safety operations, and teleoperation‑enabled workflows.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a lab environment, has strong mechanical aptitude, and
demonstrates discipline in safety‑critical operations. You should enjoy working with hardware,
collaborating with engineers, and supporting the day‑to‑day execution of robotics development and
testing activities.
As a Robotic Lab Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining lab readiness, enabling safe
experimentation, and supporting teleoperation‑backed robotics programs that contribute to GM’s
broader AI and automation strategy.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
• Manage robotic inventory, including tracking hardware, parts, tools, and equipment
• Assemble, reconfigure, and disassemble robotic systems and test setups
• Support daily lab operations, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness
• Maintain and enforce lab safety standards, procedures, and documentation
• Assist with robot setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
• Support teleoperation activities, including system setup and monitoring
• Collaborate with robotics engineers and operators during testing and data collection
• Maintain operational logs and adhere to established safety protocols
• Perform basic electrical wiring, cable routing/management, and routine power and system
checks.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
• Associate degree or technical certification in Robotics, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or
equivalent hands‑on experience
• Experience working with robotic, electromechanical, or automated systems
• Familiarity with lab safety protocols and equipment handling
• Comfortable following structured procedures and maintaining attention to detail
Some experience or exposure to teleoperation systems or remote robot control
• Ability to perform hands‑on mechanical work, including repetitive tasks
• Ability to read and understand CAD & Layout Drawings
• Strong organizational skills for inventory and asset management
• Interpret CAD files and layout drawings to support assembly & setup.
• Prior experience in robotics labs, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments preferred
