POSITION: Robotics, Clubs, and Competition Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION CODE: EXEMPT FULL TIME

DEPARTMENT: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH (STEM) AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) PROGRAM

REPORTS TO: STEM CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPER

STATEMENT OF JOB:

The Robotics, Clubs, and Competition Coordinator provides instruction and prepares STEM competition clubs for upcoming competitions by providing training, ongoing resources, and on-site assistance to all ABHS STEM program clubs, teachers and instructors. This includes creating lessons, teaching lessons to students, securing educational resources, constructing and demonstrating working models, actively researching and learning new technologies to assist students, and providing training for ABHS STEM program instructors and teachers. Additionally, the Robotics, Clubs, and Competition Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing STEM events and engaging in community outreach promoting STEM education and skill development. The Robotics, Clubs, and Competition Coordinator assists in the development and implementation of Behavioral Health Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons providing therapeutic services delivered to individuals and small groups of ABHS school-aged clients in the context of Robotics and other Competition Clubs and Competitions. Separate from the STEM Instructional duties, the Robotics, Clubs, and Competition Coordinator is a management position responsible for managing ABHS STEM staff at multiple designated school locations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. STEM Instructional Duties.
    1. Plan Robotics Lessons to be delivered at multiple school locations. Create and deliver on-site lessons for staff and students as well as deliver electronic resources and meet with students and groups online.
    2. Develop and provide teaching resources and robotics training for Robotics Coaches onsite at schools and online. This is including but not limited to: Robotics Coding, 3D printing, CAD, rules, game strategies.
    3. Provide training for Tournament Referees and other volunteer jobs.

  1. Behavioral Health Duties.
    1. As needed, leading Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Groups separate from STEM instruction time.
    2. Responsible for learning the SEL Curriculum for the purpose of planning the integration of the Curriculum with STEM instruction.
    3. Responsible for attending all required online and in-person Behavioral Health training.
    4. Responsible for obtaining required clinical supervision from a Behavioral Health clinical supervisor.
    5. Provide consistent communication with Clinicians, ABHS School Therapists, School Coaches and SEL Specialists to assist in the delivery of Behavioral Health services of ABHS enrolled clients.

  1. STEM Events Responsibilities.
    1. Participate in all aspects of planning and providing Club Competition Events as well as other out-of-school events sponsored by the ABHS STEM program.
    2. Responsible for organizing and providing out-of-school Robotics Workshops and Camp Opportunities for youth.

  1. STEM Work Group and Management Responsibilities.
    1. Serve as direct supervisor for STEM staff at a minimum of one school location. This includes handling leave requests and assuring that all STEM services are being provided at the school location.
    2. Serve on the following ABHS STEM Workgroups: STEM Events Group, Robotics/Competition/Club Instruction, Community Outreach
  2. Procurement Duties.
    1. Responsible for keeping Inventory of Robotics Supplies at each school and determining what supplies are needed to maintain competitive teams. Also responsible for determining what Competition Supplies are needed to host events. Advocate and assist in supply requests and grant requests to meet the needs of the Robotics Program.

  1. Training Responsibilities.
    1. Responsible for assessing needs and developing area of Robotics/Club Competition to improve the quality of the ABHS STEM program.
    2. Responsible for professional development related to all areas of club competition (robotics, drones, etc.) and specifically keeping updated on all necessary certifications such as VEX educator and VEX referee certifications.

  1. Communication Responsibilities.

Specifically responsible for providing communication and community outreach with the goal of increasing community support and involvement in the ABHS STEM program and Club Competitions. Communicating and providing direction to all school STEM staff concerning Robotics, including monitoring teams progress regularly. Maintaining ongoing going communication with School Administration and Staff. Ongoing communication with ABHS STEM Instruction Coordinator or Curriculum Developers as to lesson plans and instruction.

  1. Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and program standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
  2. Maintain ethical policies and guidelines as outlined in accepted State ethics laws, rules, policies and principles and as outlined in discipline-specific code of ethics.
  3. Provide a positive role model to clients and staff through leadership, self-discipline, and genuine care for the treatment and recovery of clients. All clients and staff members must be treated with dignity and respect.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma , 21 years of age, and Behavioral Health Technician Certification are required.
  2. 2 Years experience with Robotics or other related technology experience and possession of a bachelor degree in mental health/human services or education related field preferred.
  3. One year mental health experience preferred; experience working with Native Americans preferred.
  4. A current substitute teacher’s or teacher’s license preferred.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to speak the Apache language preferred.
  6. Demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational and time management skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors, including basic knowledge in supervising and evaluating staff.
  8. Valid Arizona Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  9. MS Office proficiency and ability to create electronic teaching materials
  10. Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including, but not limited to, fingerprint clearance, drug testing and background check.
