Road Design Engineer Senior Project Engineer

Janssen & Spaans Engineering (JSE) is looking for a Road Design Senior Project Engineer to join our team! This role provides engineering excellence, plans, identifies, prioritizes, tracks and monitors tasks and sequences in the process to produce the desired outcome. The ideal candidate will have over ten (10) years’ experience in Civil Engineering or related field. P.E. license in the state of Indiana is optional; preferred, not required. Roadway projects include but are not limited to: Interstates, Highways, and Freeways, Urban Streets, Intersections including Roundabouts, and Interchange Layout. COMPENSATION COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.

Job Description:

• Design Build and P3 projects
• Create plans ensuring geometric calculations conform to required code and standards,
• Model road designs using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, BIM, or GeoPak, InRoads, Guide Sign, and AutoTURN
• Ensure AASHTO codes, INDOT design manual requirements, and design standards are followed
• Supervise and train technicians [and PEs (for licensed P.E.)]
• Assist supervisor in development of plan sets and details, as well as project team meetings
• Develop project specifications, provisions, and estimates adhering to client requirements
• Meet deadlines and cost targets
• Manage required project documentation, reports, and minutes
• Maintain Professional Engineering registrations (for licensed P.E.)
• Establish and uphold client relationships
• Communicate with clients regarding updates and necessary adjustments
• Accept additional responsibilities as trainings progress

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) (Required)
• 10+ Years’ Experience in related field (Required)
• Licensed PE in Indiana (preferred not required)
• Design Build and P3 knowledge
• In-depth knowledge of AASHTO and DOT standards (Required)
• Skilled in MicroStation, BIM, and Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Required)
• Strong communication skills and capability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Department of Transportation project experience (Preferred)
• Exceptional Time management skills
• Strong analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• Substantial listening and communication skills
