RN First Assistant - Days Full-Time

RN First Assistant to join our Operating Room team at Providence St. Joseph Hospital Orange in Orange, CA. This position is Full-Time and will work 12-hour Day shifts.

Under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon, the RNFA functions during the intra-operative phase by directly assisting the surgeon in controlling bleeding, providing wound exposure, suturing and other surgical tasks utilizing nursing and medical functions.  The RNFA assists the surgeon in providing the patient with a safe operative experience.  Utilizing specific knowledge, skills and judgment the RNFA performs these functions in accordance with the California Board of Registered Nursing, the RN as First Assistant to the Surgeon.  In addition, the RNFA performs under the standardized procedure outlined in St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Coursework/Training: Successful completion of an accredited RNFA course
  • Coursework/Training: Completion of established hours/cases of program
  • California Registered Nurse License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • 3 years of experience scrubbing and circulating as a RN in the operating room.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
