The Risk Management Consultant is a critical position within the Global Customer Risk Team, supporting the FIG portion of the CIB business' ability to understand its customer base and make sound risk decisions. This role supports the Senior Regional Risk Officer with day-to-day challenges that the team face; also supports the strategic and tactical activities that impact the CIB Financial Crimes. The position is based in London and will report to the Senior Regional Risk Officer. This position will be working closely with relationship managers, risk managers, and customers of FIG EMEA.
The Risk Management Consultant will support the creation of new processes/procedures required to meet Corporate policy, CIB, FIG and local requirements.
The Risk Management Consultant may call on financial institution customers with the relationship teams in the region; and ensure appropriate compliance issues are discussed, documented, and managed.
The Risk Management Consultant will act as primary lead for inquiries from other functional teams in CIB Financial Crimes Group and Financial Crimes Risk Management Department; and ensure that all enquiries are responded to appropriately in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs, which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions.
Responsible for ensuring the business is collecting and documenting customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence according to Corporate policy, CIB and FIG procedure.
Responsible for proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite, and all risk and compliance program requirements.
Responsible for ensuring the complete, accurate, and timely documentation of customer data within the Customer Risk Management System (or any succeeding system).
This position must stay attuned to industry and regional trends related to compliance issues, financial crimes, and regulatory actions; and proactively identify risk issues and work with senior relationship and risk managers to develop, document, and implement appropriate action plans.
Responsible for evaluating and making decisions about customer information, negative news and complex financial activity.
Responsible for providing detailed risk analysis of the FIG customer base in the assigned region, including but not limited to EMEA.
Responsible for performing detailed analyses to identify patterns, trends across EMEA jurisdictions and relationships and within an assigned portfolio; evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes and internal controls; reviews and analysis findings to determine level of risk; drafting corrective action (remediation) plans and assists in managing change to prevent/mitigate risk.

Market Skills and Certifications
Skills/Experience Required:
Solid work experience in financial industry and/or compliance risk management, with a proven experience in Anti-Money Laundering.
Strong English communication, both verbal and written.
Exposure to and understanding of EMEA markets will be an advantage.
A European language would be advantageous.
Ability to work and improvise independently.
Ability to develop strong relationships and work in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
Experienced user of Microsoft Office and Web based applications.
Bachelor degree .
Compliance related certifications (CAMS, CRCM, etc.)
