About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Risk Analyst to join our Risk Management team. This role is critical in supporting our firm’s ability to manage financial, market, credit, and operational risks across our trading and clearing activities. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, a working knowledge of broker dealer and FCM regulatory frameworks, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
What You Will Do
Risk Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor intraday and end of day market, credit, and liquidity exposures across equities, options, futures, and other listed derivatives.
- Conduct risk assessments on client trading activity, position concentrations, margin requirements, and collateral sufficiency.
- Evaluate clearing fund, initial margin, and variation margin calculations for accuracy and compliance.
Reporting & Governance
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports for senior management, capturing key metrics, limit breaches, and material trends.
- Support ongoing enhancements to the firm’s risk dashboards, stress testing models, and exposure monitoring tools.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements including those related to FINRA, SEC, CFTC, and NFA obligations.
Stress Testing & Scenario Analysis
- Perform stress tests and scenario analysis for market volatility, extreme price moves, and client default simulations.
- Collaborate with quantitative teams to refine modeling methodologies and ensure alignment with clearing and regulatory standards.
Risk Controls & Issue Management
- Identify emerging risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies; propose and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support surveillance of limit frameworks such as capital adequacy limits, counterparty exposure limits, and liquidity thresholds.
- Assist with incident investigations and post event analysis.
- Troubleshoot client facing issues.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Compliance, Operations, Treasury, and Technology to ensure effective end to end risk management.
- Participate in audits, regulatory exams, and internal reviews by providing documentation, data, and subject matter expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in risk management, preferably within a broker dealer, FCM, clearing firm, or derivatives focused financial institution.
- Series 3 and 7 (or ability to obtain within three months of start date).
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Strong understanding of margining methodologies (e.g., SPAN, TIMS, VaR based systems).
- Familiarity with U.S. regulatory frameworks including SEC, FINRA, CFTC, NFA, and exchange specific rules.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with risk systems, SQL, or data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
