Right-of-Way Agent — Electric Utility (Long-term Project)

Day rate: $400–$450 per day
Per diem: $178 per day (7 days)
Project Duration: 7+ years commitment expected
About the role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Right-of-Way Agent to join a large-scale, long-term electric utility infrastructure project based in Cedar Rapids, IA. This is a rare opportunity to plant roots on a multi-year engagement with meaningful, complex land work from day one. No two requests are the same — this role rewards professionals who can interpret ambiguous situations, think critically, and drive solutions independently.
What you'll do:
- Negotiate and secure easements, lease agreements, and real estate transactions in support of electric utility infrastructure
- Manage and track right-of-way activities across large land portfolios using enterprise data platforms
- Interpret title reports, legal descriptions, and property records to resolve complex land questions
- Collaborate with internal teams, landowners, legal counsel, and government agencies
- Problem-solve unique and varied requests — this role requires strong independent judgment
What we're looking for:
- 8+ years of ROW experience — 10–12 years strongly preferred.
- Background in the electric utility sector, as a direct utility employee or a contractor supporting a utility, required
- Demonstrated experience with right-of-way acquisition, REQUIRED
- Hands-on experience with easements, land transactions, and lease agreements in a utility context
- Proficiency in navigating large-scale data and land management platforms
- High cognitive ability — able to interpret complex, varied requests and problem-solve with limited direction
- Commitment to a long-term engagement (7+ years) — stability and longevity on this project are a priority
