The Effector RF Products Department at RTX is seeking a motivated and skilled RF Engineering Technician I to join our team. This role involves hands-on work in RF circuit card assembly (CCA) testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting. You will be contributing directly to the development and integration of cutting-edge technologies.

As an RF Engineering Technician I, you will work closely with mid- and upper-level engineers and leadership, providing recommendations for testing, troubleshooting, and solving hardware integration issues. This position may require occasional travel to other RTX locations.

This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

  • Test, troubleshoot, modify, and rework CCAs to ensure proper operation as per established criteria.
  • Operate electrical test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, multi-meters, and power supplies.
  • Recognize failures, isolate problems, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Diagnose and repair damaged units or hardware using established methods.
  • Read, understand, and accurately follow prints, schematics, sketches, and verbal or written instructions, including test procedures.
  • Perform micro-soldering under a microscope for extended periods.
  • Construct, repair, and/or replace cables and harnesses from schematics.
  • Conduct quality verifications and inspections under a microscope.
  • Communicate potential problems or risks to management that may affect program schedules or quality.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to provide support and feedback.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and less than two years of prior relevant experience to include any combination of the following:

  • Experience testing and evaluating circuit cards using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and power supplies.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and following prints, schematics, sketches, and verbal or written instructions, including test procedures.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, including soldering irons, cutters, wire strippers, and electric heat guns.
  • Familiarity with soldering, mechanical processes, quality standards, and documentation.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience testing RF components, circuit cards, and subassemblies
  • Familiarity with CCA manufacturing standards, fabrication processes, and associated documentation.
  • IPC J-STD-001 solder certification.
  • IPC 610 and 620 acceptability certification and inspection experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a motivated self-starter with sound judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
