Revenue Cycle Manager

Position Summary:

The Revenue Cycle Manager is responsible for the end-to-end oversight of the organization’s revenue cycle operations, including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, accounts receivable, and collections. This role ensures the financial integrity of revenue processes while driving operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and optimal reimbursement.

This leader supervises billing specialists and partners cross-functionally with clinical, finance, and administrative teams to improve revenue performance and patient financial experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and optimize all phases of the revenue cycle from registration through final payment
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as days in A/R, clean claim rate, denial rate and recovery and net collection rate
  • Ensure timely and accurate charge capture, coding, and claim submission

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of billing specialists
  • Establish productivity and quality benchmarks
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and payer regulations
  • Maintain compliance with coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Support audit readiness and respond to internal/external audits
  • Oversee denial management strategies and root cause analysis
  • Implement corrective actions to reduce denials and improve cash flow
  • Monitor aging reports and drive timely resolution of outstanding accounts
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process enhancements
  • Collaborate with IT/EMR teams to optimize system functionality
  • Standardize policies and procedures across revenue cycle functions
  • Partner with clinical leadership to improve documentation and charge accuracy
  • Work with finance on revenue forecasting and reporting
  • Support patient financial services in enhancing the patient experience

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of full revenue cycle operations
  • Proficiency with billing systems and electronic health records
  • Knowledge of payer rules, reimbursement methodologies, and denial management
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret financial and operational data
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management
  • Prior supervisory experience required
