Retail Assistant Store Manager / NYC

AKILA is an independent eyewear brand known for quality craftsmanship and forward-thinking design. We’re looking for a highly organized and proactive Assistant Store Manager to support the daily operations of our NYC store. This role works closely with the Store Manager to ensure smooth store operations, exceptional customer experiences, and adherence to brand standards.


What You'll Do

Daily Operations

  • Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and consistently.
  • Assist with delegating daily operational tasks, including monitoring unfulfilled orders and coordinating packing to maintain a clean and organized front desk.

Staff Management

  • Help maintain staff productivity during downtime by reinforcing expectations around tasks, device usage, and maintaining a positive, professional store environment.
  • Provide leadership on the sales floor by assisting with training, mentoring, and onboarding new team members while upholding AKILA's customer service standards.
  • Act as the manager on duty when the Store Manager is unavailable.

Inventory and Product

  • Assist with scheduling and conducting inventory cycle counts and spot checks of low or negative stock.
  • Monitor incoming shipments, new releases, and restocks to ensure product is received, processed, and merchandised accurately.

Cash, Timesheets, and Supplies

  • Support the management of cash logs and assist with reviewing staff timesheets for accuracy.
  • Monitor store supply levels and communicate restocking needs to ensure essential supplies are always available.

Visual and Operational Standards

  • Help maintain the store's visual and operational standards, including regular cleaning of floor models and updating price stickers when needed.
  • Ensure daily opening and closing procedures are completed accurately when leading shifts.

Customer Orders and Transfers

  • Assist with reviewing NY-based customer orders for follow-up and coordinating with customer service to ensure clear communication and smooth resolution.
  • Support stylist pulls and product transfers to ensure they are prepared and submitted for review by required deadlines.


What We’re Looking For

  • 2–3+ years of retail leadership experience (eyewear or fashion preferred).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to lead by example and support team productivity on the sales floor.
  • Comfortable with inventory systems, POS systems, and retail operational tools.
  • Passion for customer service and maintaining a high standard of store presentation.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying operational needs.
