Position Summary
The Facilities Technician will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment installations across a portfolio of Papa John’s restaurants. This role will work closely with Operations, Facilities, and Store Management to ensure restaurants remain fully operational and compliant with brand standards.
The position requires frequent travel between restaurant locations and occasional after-hours or emergency response support.
Key ResponsibilitiesRestaurant Equipment Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair restaurant equipment including:
- Pizza ovens
- Makelines and refrigeration systems
- Walk-in coolers and freezers
- Dough equipment
- Smallwares and kitchen equipment
- Coordinate with third-party service vendors when specialized repairs are required.
- Perform preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failures and extend asset life.
HVAC & Refrigeration Support
- Troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration issues.
- Perform basic maintenance including filter changes, condenser cleaning, and inspections.
- Coordinate emergency HVAC repairs and temporary cooling solutions during equipment failures.
- Monitor refrigeration performance and identify opportunities to reduce recurring service issues.
Facilities Maintenance
- Repair and maintain:
- Doors and locks
- Flooring and tile
- Plumbing fixtures
- Lighting systems
- Ceiling tiles and grid systems
- Exterior building components
- Complete minor carpentry, painting, and general handyman tasks.
Preventative Maintenance Program
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance visits across assigned stores.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
- Assist in developing maintenance standards and best practices.
New Store Openings & Remodels
- Support restaurant openings, remodels, relocations, and equipment installations.
- Assist with vendor coordination and project execution.
- Ensure restaurants are operationally ready prior to opening.
Emergency Response
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues that impact restaurant operations.
- Support after-hours and weekend emergency calls as needed.
- Assist with disaster recovery efforts including power outages, HVAC failures, and equipment breakdowns.
QualificationsRequired
- 3+ years of maintenance, facilities, construction, restaurant equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, or related experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned markets.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work on ladders, roofs, and in confined spaces.
Preferred
- Restaurant, QSR, or food service maintenance experience.
- EPA Certification.
- HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, or plumbing experience.
- Experience with Papa John’s or other multi-unit restaurant brands.
- Trade school or technical certifications.
