The Sautto Lab focuses on developing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) as tools to design novel vaccines and advance treatments for infectious diseases, particularly viral pathogens such as hepatitis C virus (HCV), influenza virus, SARS-CoV-2, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and human metapneumovirus (HMPV). Our work explores the potential of mAbs as direct therapeutics capable of neutralizing infections as well as indirect strategies to prevent infection altogether. We also engineer and optimize mAbs by enhancing characteristics such as binding strength and stability or redesigning them for specialized applications including chimeric antigen receptors, offering innovative approaches to combating difficult-to-eradicate pathogens and certain cancers. As a Research Technician on our team, you will perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for assigned experimental studies, assist with establishing and scheduling analyses, conduct tests using a range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and assemble experimental results for review by research staff.
