A Brief Overview
This entry-level research technical role participates in planned research projects by performing research protocols, experimental procedures and other laboratory tasks under direct supervision.
A research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Douglas Wallace at the Center of Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine at CHOP. Our laboratory uses a range of molecular and cellular biology, mouse genetics, and genomics techniques to study metabolic regulation and its implication in both normal physiology and disease conditions. The main responsibilities of this position are to maintain the lab’s mouse colony and provide technical and other support to the research team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is highly organized and who possesses the social skills to interact with a wide range of scientific staff. Basic duties include laboratory mice husbandry and maintenance, performing molecular biology/cell biology/genomics experiments, as well as scientific and regulatory record keeping.
Animal Management
Manage colonies of genetically modified mice under the guidance of researchers. Duties include setting up breeding, weaning, health checks, genotyping, tissue biopsies, record keeping, and coordinating with the animal facility for proper maintenance of mouse husbandry.
Research Support
Maintain and support a good environment for the research team. Duties include animal phenotyping experiments (such as behavioral assays), routine molecular biology experiments (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA, etc), and preparation of research material for the research team

$18.68 - $23.36 HourlySalary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
