UTHealth Houston’s Neurology Department is hiring for a Research Coordinator I to join their team of professionals. The RC I will be responsible for enrolling patients at the biobank, processing blood, scheduling patients, follow ups appointments. and more.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Conducts a variety of research activities including patient screening, recruitment, and consenting; collecting biological samples such as blood in hospital and outpatient settings; performing traditional laboratory experiments; entering and validating data; and administering simple clinical or outcome scales in person or by phone. Works closely with physicians and research teams to identify and enroll eligible patients, maintains positive communication with clinical care teams, and conducts follow-up with enrolled participants to collect outcome data. Ensures accurate, timely, and confidential documentation across notebooks, databases, and other research records while maintaining data integrity and compliance.
Provides day‑to‑day coordination and support for research projects, including managing personnel, supplies, facilities, timelines, and budgets to support desired project outcomes. Monitors laboratory and research supplies to ensure adequate inventory and quality, stays current on new or updated research protocols, and complies with all applicable governmental and University policies and regulations. Participates in continuing education opportunities as needed and performs other duties as assigned in support of departmental research objectives.
This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.
