We are hiring for a Research Assistant that will be performing research on plants and how they grow under certain conditions. An ideal candidate will have some experience working with plants.

A Bachelors' degree in a relevant science would be preferred, but is not required. This would be a great foot in the door for someone who wants to be involved in plant or horticulture related research!

Research Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to support trials for grass and seed projects. You will collaborate with a team of four biologists who design the trials, assisting them in execution. This role involves both outdoor work and greenhouse assistance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plots by tilling, leveling, and raking.
• Maintain plots through mowing, fertilizer, weed control, and fungicide application.
• Weed and mark plots by spray painting corners.
• Assist with plot layout by measuring and stringing plots.
• Participate in seeding and planting activities.
• Collect data using lightbox and transfer images to a shared drive.
• Crop images and take non-subjective data as needed (e.g., NDVI, soil moisture).
• Weigh treatments for OH and OR.
• Perform greenhouse maintenance, including fertilization, trimming, and pest spraying.
• Mix potting media for seeding and planting in the greenhouse and assist with transplanting/propagation.

Qualifications

• Experience in farming, planting, landscaping, and/or gardening (must be from a working or research environment).
• Ideally will have a Bachelors or Associates Degree in a relevant science, but it's not necessarily required.

This is a Contract position based out of MARYSVILLE, OH.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
