Job Title: Electronics Service Technician

Job Description

The Electronics Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, servicing, and operational verification of all company-manufactured products returned from end users. The role involves diagnosing and repairing faulty electronic equipment, following established safety and process procedures, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support a 'safety first' culture; immediately correct hazards and/or report them to the Lead Factory Service Technician or Assembly & Factory Service Manager.
  • Perform operational evaluations of company products returned by customers.
  • Conduct component-level diagnosis and repair of audio equipment, including amplifiers and speakers; adjust and/or replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry.
  • Troubleshoot scalable IP networking systems; isolate and resolve card-level and component-level failures.
  • Perform post-repair operational testing and verification to ensure equipment operates within factory specifications.
  • Develop, update, and integrate test procedures to accurately reproduce fault issues.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions of electronic assemblies such as amplifiers and printed circuit boards.
  • Maintain system- or product-specific historical repair records documenting equipment testing and operation.
  • Identify repeat failures and failure modes; record and communicate findings to the supervisor for delivery to Engineering and/or Quality team.
  • Assist in training and development of less experienced service technicians.
  • Apply basic concepts of continuous improvement methodology; remain observant for opportunities to streamline operations processes and communicate value-adding ideas to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent, demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing audio electronic equipment and component-level repair.
  • Proficient in safe handling and effective use of electronic testing and diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscope, multimeter, and function generator.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions.
  • Must possess soldering skills, specifically with surface mount and thru-hole components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree in electronics is highly desirable.
  • Experience in LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP V4 protocols, and network technologies is highly desirable.
  • Familiarization with Linux operating system is preferred.
  • Understanding of IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateway IPs for creating internal test networks for VoIP systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Formal or informal experience leading small teams in a professional, process-driven work environment is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be a team player; a self-starter/motivator is preferred.

Work Environment

The environment is a climate-controlled distribution facility, with very nice and clean service and repair areas. The role is primarily first shift, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with very rare overtime on weekends.

This is a Permanent position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $56160.00/yr.
