Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Remediation Project Manager to support and grow Tetra Tech's environmental remediation business in southeastern New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing remediation projects for oil and gas clients and demonstrated familiarity with New Mexico Oil Conservation Division (NMOCD) and New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO) requirements, processes, and stakeholder expectations.

This candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a professional, fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel as needed, and possess excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role.

  • Manage remediation projects from scoping through closure for oil and gas and related clients in New Mexico.

  • Serve as project manager for site investigation, corrective action, remediation, reclamation, and closure projects.
  • Prepare, review, and manage technical work plans, cost estimates, schedules, reports, and client deliverables.
  • Coordinate and oversee field activities including site assessments, soil and groundwater investigation, excavation oversight, confirmation sampling, waste characterization, and site restoration.
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, landowners, and regulatory agencies to identify needs, solve problems, and maintain project momentum.
  • Provide leadership and direction to junior staff and field teams to meet project objectives safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing support, change management, and profitability tracking.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, maintaining client relationships, and contributing to strategic growth in the Permian Basin region.
  • Develop proposals, including scopes of work, technical approaches, staffing plans, and budget estimates.
  • Prepare and/or review regulatory submittals and closure documentation associated with NMOCD and NMSLO remediation and reclamation projects.
  • Support projects that may involve multi-media environmental knowledge, including soil, groundwater, waste management, spill response, remediation, and environmental compliance.
  • The position may require extensive outdoor work as well as overnight travel. Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–15+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, with significant experience in remediation and reclamation projects for oil and gas clients.
  • Demonstrated project management experience delivering remediation projects on time and within budget.
  • Working knowledge of NMOCD remediation requirements, spill response/closure expectations, and related reporting.
  • Working knowledge of NMSLO requirements for remediation, reclamation, and closure activities on state trust lands.
  • Strong understanding of site investigation methods, remediation strategies, and environmental field practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and client-facing correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Highly motivated, customer-focused, and able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting remediation projects in New Mexico.
  • Established relationships with New Mexico oil and gas operators and regional stakeholders.
  • Experience with spill response, release investigation, closure strategy development, and agency coordination.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance, due diligence, and waste management requirements relevant to oil and gas operations in New Mexico.

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidate must be able and available to travel via land and/or air.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods is essential.
  • Physical tasks include walking over uneven terrain and active field sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • Work will be split between the office and field.
  • Travel requirements may include day trips as well as multi-day field assignments that require overnight stays.
  • Field work will primarily be outdoors and may occur in remote locations and varying weather conditions.
  • Work may involve uneven terrain, active industrial sites, and the use of field PPE and/or FRC clothing as required.
