Description:We are seeking a Principal Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support the F35 Program as a Unit of Action for the various release trains: 41-series, 42-series, 45-series, 46-series, and the 4X-series.

As the Principal RTE, you will work hand-in-hand with the development RTEs to lead, coordinate, integrate, build and deliver software releases that support labs, flight test, production, and sustainment.

The Principal RTE will provide leadership across the F-35 program, facilitating collaboration and coordination among technical teams, capability owners, system designers, and program management. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of air system products supporting Lot Releases, leveraging your technical expertise and leadership skills to drive alignment and resolve impediments.

This position requires a high-level of executive engagements, executive presentations, and partnership with with the Release Train Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary liaison to senior program leadership, customer representatives, integrated logistics, and air system stakeholders.

• Collaborate with program management to develop and implement program plans, including release planning and product development.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the program, including program management, our customer, and capability owners.

• Coordinate large‑scale solution delivery across ARTs, suppliers, and partner organizations.

• Work with Development RTEs to optimize flow, remove bottlenecks, and maintain alignment with the Capability Roadmap.

• Address issues that span multiple ARTs or external vendors (e.g., integration, certification, logistics).

• Aid in the creation and maintenance of the Release‑Train Execution Plan (Milestones, PI Objectives, PI‑Level Milestones, Release Milestones).

• Support Relay Planning, PI Planning and Release Planning activities for the entire solution view.

• Produce regular Release‑Train status reports leveraging engineering metrics (KPIs, risk heat‑maps, burn‑up/down) for Business Owners and senior leadership.

• Oversee the integration of Mission‑Systems, Vehicle‑Systems, Off‑board Mission Support, firmware, and loadable data into a coherent, validated solution.

• Ensure systems‑engineering artifacts (functional analysis, interface control documents, requirements allocation) are maintained at the release level.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline (Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering preferred)
• Executive presentation experience
• F-35 Program experience
• Minimum 12 years of program/project/engineering management experience in aerospace, defense, or large‑scale cyber‑physical systems.
• Strong foundation in systems engineering (functional analysis, requirements allocation, interface control).
• Hands‑on knowledge of air‑system components (Mission Systems, Vehicle Systems, Off‑board support, firmware, aircraft loadable data).

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
