Registered Nurse (RN) - Wound Care - St. Mary's Hospital
The Enterstomal Therapist is a professional nurse with expertise in a specific area of wound, ostomy, and continence nursing practice who is expected to demonstrate the highest level of expert practice. The Enterstomal Therapist analyzes practice in the Patient Care Services division in a continuous improvement framework, initiating change, and evaluating the impact. The Enterstomal Therapist provides education, research, certification and a collaborative atmosphere to support state of the art health care management for individuals with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence. Facilitates the integration of ethical, legal concepts into the practice of self and others. Actualizes quality patient outcomes within the Patient Care Services division through utilization of advanced knowledge, preparation, skills, and expertise.
Employment Qualifications
Must have a current licensure as RN in State of Virginia; Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. At least 2 years' experience in an acute care setting is required.
Certification in clinical specialty of wound, ostomy, and/or continence preferred. If not currently certified, must obtain within 2 years.
Work requires strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Must maintain current CPR certification.
Work requires level of knowledge of nursing techniques, methods, and nursing management, acquired through five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience.
Work requires previous work experience communicating complex theoretical and technical concepts to all levels of department personnel; developing and presenting formal educational programs; and collaborating effectively with other health team members
