UPMC Presbyterian, a Magnet designated hospital, is currently hiring a Full-Time Registered Nurse to the Transplant Patient Service Center.
Schedule: 6am-4:30pm with scheduled late nights rotating weekly
About the Position:
The Transplant Patient Service Center is a one‑of‑a‑kind care environment within UPMC, dedicated to supporting patients before and after abdominal and cardiothoracic transplant. As the essential bridge between inpatient hospitalization and the outpatient transplant program Patients visit our 29‑bed outpatient procedural unit for lab work, evaluation by their transplant team, and a variety of specialized transplant‑related services.
Our nurses perform a broad range of procedures, including biopsies, infusions, transfusions, wound care, medication administration, and care management. Nurses also round daily with the interdisciplinary team and provide essential education to patients and caregivers—empowering them to manage their care confidently at home. We emphasize proactive care and frequently adjust our schedule to see patients later in the day to help prevent hospital readmissions.
This is a fast‑paced, collaborative environment where nurses are respected and valued by physicians, APPs, patients, and families. The unit is open during daylight hours, and nursing staff work rotating weekends.
Responsibilities:
They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
