Registered Nurse - Float Pool (Nightshift, 0.9 FTE)

SHIFT: Nights, 12 hrs (0.9 FTE)

JOB SUMMARY: This position demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process as a standard, incorporating elements of holistic family-centered care through the collection, verification and organization of data about a patient’s health status, planning for care, implementation of the plan and evaluation. Provides direct patient care in the clinical setting under the direction of the Unit Director and Manager, and the Charge Nurse. Performs detailed and accurate assessments of patients and completes documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to hospital policy and regulatory requirements. Works well with other departments, peers, co-workers, and physicians in a teamwork environment.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to accept responsibility as a Float staff/Patient Care Services RN (job specific).

EDUCATION: Graduate of professional school of nursing required. Nurses involved in the care of orthopedic and spine patients must adhere to defined educational and competency requirements in compliance with DNV Orthopedic and Spine certification.  Nurses providing care to orthopedic and spine patients must complete specialty-specific education and validate competency annually.  Nurses are expected to participate in continuing education activities relevant to orthopedic and spine care, including updates on clinical guidelines, emerging technologies, and best practices.  Educational areas may include, but are not limited to:
•    Musculoskeletal system anatomy and physiology
•    ERAS                                                                                                                                                     
•    Pain management strategies
•    Mobility and safety
•    Prevention of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and pressure injuries
•    Glucose management
•    Compartment syndrome

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse required. BLS certification required. Certification in Med/Surg and/or Geriatric Nursing preferred.

APTITUDES: Demonstrated ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Demonstrated positive interpersonal and communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Demonstrated ability to receive feedback and ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling, equipment and department assignments.
