Short Description

The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for adesignated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.

Overview

TheMt. Laurel and Willingborolocations are only outpatient units,whereastheSpecial Test Unit (STU),locatedon the sixth floor in the mainhospitalis an outpatient and inpatient unit. All are run by thehospital largelyto servediagnosticand therapeutic needs of the Gastroenterology Division.

The most common gastroenterology procedures are upperendoscopy and colonoscopy. In the pulmonary suite (STU only),endoscopy of the airway procedures is performed, andarecommonly called bronchoscopy.

All units are staffed by surgical schedulers, patient service representatives, nurses, and GI technicians. Anesthesiology is present for all GI procedures. Nurses rotate between the admission (Pre op), procedure suites, recovery (PACU)andpre-admission testing. They must be familiar with all roles andproceduresin the GI Unit.

Experience Required

• Require 2 Years Acute Care Experience (Med Surg, ICU, ER, etc.);GI or PACU Experience Preferred

• Strong Computer Skills Needed

Education Requirements

• Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing

License/Certification Requirements

• Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse)
• Current NJ-BLSCertification(Basic Life Support)
