The Endoscopy Patient Care Technician is responsible for:Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and Endoscopist, the Endoscopy Technician provides specialized technical and procedural support for gastrointestinal and related endoscopic procedures. Taking into consideration the developmental and clinical needs of the patient, the Endoscopy Technician prepares procedure rooms, manages endoscopic equipment and accessories, supports complex procedures, and collaborates with the care team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality endoscopic care.

Responsibilities

The Level I Endoscopy Technician demonstrates foundational competency in endoscopy room preparation and procedural support with guidance and supervision.

Prepares endoscopy rooms for procedures including EGD, colonoscopy, and renal biopsiesPerforms scope setup, leak testing, and basic functional checks under guidanceEnsures required supplies and equipment are available prior to case startAssists with scope and accessory handling under RN/MD directionSupports patient positioning specific to endoscopic proceduresFollows established workflows and responds to real-time direction during casesRecognizes when assistance is needed and escalates appropriatelyMaintains aseptic technique and patient safety standards

Ability to use computer keyboard functions to input and obtain data.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of aseptic technique, basis wound care, patient safety, and patient transport techniques.

Knowledge of recording and reporting pertinent clinical data.

Knowledge of setting up and management of specialized patient care equipment.

Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR

Active Maryland CNA License

One year of acute care (hospital) tech experience during the most recent two years in a setting relevant to the unit; experience assisting the provider with colonoscopies and EGDs.
