The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Environmental Design (Baltimore City) is currently recruiting for aRegional Environmental Coordinator (Environmental Analyst II) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimumandselective qualificationslisted below. All eligible candidates must meet the minimum and selective qualifications by the closing date. Nature of Work: The primary purpose of the Regional Environmental Coordinator (REC) position is to function as the advanced technical specialist for environmental compliance on the State Highway Administration’s (SHA) construction and maintenance projects to support the Maryland Department of the Environment’s (MDE) Delegated Authority (DA). As a member of the Office of Environmental Design’s (OED) Quality Assurance Division (QAD), the REC routinely evaluates projects and completes quality assurance ratings for erosion and sediment control to determine a projects level of compliance, requiring the REC to work closely with SHA's construction, maintenance and design representatives and coordinate with federal and state environmental regulators to resolve outstanding environmental compliance matters. The REC must evaluate for final acceptance of vegetation for final payment. Thorough knowledge of SHA's design and construction practices along with knowledge of state and federal permit requirements and conditions supports the REC's ability to create innovative, permittable solutions to keep projects on schedule, budget and compliant with environmental regulations.
