The City of San Bernardino is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionateRecreation Specialistto join the team at the Center for Individual Development (CID) — our City’s signature recreation center for people with disabilities.

Part-time employees work an average of 20 hours per week and are assigned to varied work shifts, including weekends.

Experienced in recreation or special event programming, they are dependable, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality community programs in a safe and welcoming environment.
A Day in the Life:
A typical day as a Recreation Specialist at CID may include:
Knowledge of:
Rules and skills involved in specialized recreational activities;
Objectives and methods of recreational programs;
Techniques of organizing group social and recreational activities;
Effective teaching techniques of all age groups or special populations;
Group psychology and community organizations.
Ability to:
Lead groups and individuals in recreational activities;
Instruct groups and individuals in various sports, games, cultural or other recreational activities;
Express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing;
Follow oral and written instructions;
Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with all those contacted in the course of work;
Transport materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds;
See in the normal visual range, with or without correction;
Hear in the normal audio range, with or without correction;
Work indoors and out in a variety of environmental conditions.
