REC - Swim Team Assistant Coach

Under the leadership of the Swim Team Head Coach, Swim Team Assistant Coaches are responsible for supervising, instructing and coaching participants enrolled in Piranhas Swim Team.

Starting Wage: $14.00 per hour

Dates Needed: May – August (training and pre-season practices in May)

Hours: 15 – 25 hours per week. Hours vary between morning and afternoon practices, Monday through Friday, with most swim meets held on Saturdays.

  • Major Duties/Essential Functions

    • Coach a wide variety of age groups/skill levels.
    • Submit written workouts to Head Swim Team Coach.
    • Assist in maintaining current team records.
    • Ensure the safety of all team members according to facility policies and procedures.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, their families, FAC staff and the public.
    • Coordinate swim meet entries for team members.
    • Travel and represent the City of Sun Prairie Piranhas Swim Team and assist with hosting duties for all meets held at the Family Aquatic Center.
    • Attend swim team sponsored functions and interact with parents and swimmers.
    • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Experience/Education:

    • One year of swim coaching/teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
    • Current certification of American Red Cross Lifeguard is preferred, but not required.
  • Skills, knowledge or abilities needed:

    • Ability and willingness to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
    • Ability to work unsupervised in an indoor and outdoor setting with high temperatures and humidity
    • Ability to communicate effectively in an instructional capacity.

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Coaches may not be an active competitor for the Sun Prairie Piranhas
    • Availability to work weekends
    • Able/willing to work flexible hours

      Must be able to work the entire season, morning, evening and/or weekend hours may be required
