GENERAL SUMMARY
To serve as day-to-day operations coordinator for specific recreational programs and to perform related work as required. Recreation Program Coordinator is a lead level class. Under general supervision, the Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating site or program-specific recreation activities for targeted program participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and coordinates day-to-day program operations.
- Implements, evaluates, removes, and/or modifies program activities to meet diverse community needs and interests.
- Plans and/or arranges program specific work schedules for subordinate staff and volunteers.
- Prepares a variety of reports and maintains records.
- Answers questions asked by participants and the public.
- Prepares and exhibits publication materials.
- Assists with planning and implementing overall community recreation-based and other misc. programming.
- Meets with residents of community service areas to assist in determining recreation needs and programs.
- Provides courteous, high quality service to members of the public by personally responding to requests for service or making appropriate referrals.
- Oversees general facility management.
- Monitors program budget.
- Trains staff and volunteers and provides guidance to independent contractors.
- Assists with facility management.
- May be required to perform the functions of the lower level classes in this series.

Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures
- Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.

Required Education and Experience- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a recreation program leader, teacher, counselor, park ranger, or closely related position in a recreational facility.
Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
