We are hiring a full-time (40 hours weekly), non-exempt Real Property Transfer Analyst in the Assessor's Office. The purpose of this position is to research and analyze various legal documents to determine changes in ownership in order to maintain the property’s chain of title in accordance with South Carolina Code of Laws; communicates with affected property owners, citizens, attorneys, realtors, surveyors and other public officials regarding the processing and transfer of real property deeds and property reassessment decisions.

Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 111:$20.40 - $24.48 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.

Schedule:Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes deeds and other documents for accuracy of property transferred and to maintain proper chain of title. Consults with property owners, attorneys, paralegals, surveyors and other public officials to answer questions or to ensure appropriate transfer.
  • Updates and maintains property records database with new transfer information as to ownership, deed reference, plat reference, legal descriptions, sales information, qualification and reassessment requirements.
  • Receives real estate deeds and other legal documents as recorded in the ROD office making proper identification of transferred property and affixes Assessor’s endorsement.
  • Records all information to property records for each transfer.
  • Updates and maintains database for all manufactured housing.
  • Conducts special research assignments for property ownership as assigned by the Deputy Assessor and Assessor.
  • Answers telephone providing accurate information to callers and/or forwards to appropriate personnel, screening calls, taking messages as necessary.
  • Participates in greeting and assisting office visitors providing information on property assessments and assisting with special assessment applications, and address change forms as needed.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in business, real estate, paralegal services or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
