Temporary Real Estate Project Manager – Retail Development

Duration: From May 1st until end of September 2026

Scope: End-to-end management of retail projects across Design, Construction, and Operations

Location: Williamsburg, New York (hybrid in office minimally 2 days/week – Tu/Wed required)


1. Design Management

Objective: Ensure all boutique design projects progress respecting opening timelines from brief to approval and filing—aligned with brand DNA, compliance standards, and CAPEX budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design workflow across openings, relocations, renovations, and pop-ups.
  • Coordinate with VP, and brand designer to validate concepts balancing creativity, functionality, and cost.
  • Coordinate architects, designers, to ensure timely plan development and readiness for filing.
  • Manage design briefs, concepts, and review cycles (including samples boards management) in line with project timelines.


2. Construction Management

Objective: Ensure delivery of projects respecting timeline, within budget, and in full compliance,

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee construction lifecycle: budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and closeout.
  • Manage general contractors (GCs), millworkers, and vendors to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
  • Review samples, coordinate validation and archive.
  • Review shop drawings: make sure to integrate previous updates and archive final copy
  • Drive value engineering (with GC and designer) and challenge pricing through benchmarking and alternative.
  • Coordinate building permits and AOR in cooperation with designer
  • Ensure compliance with DOB, EHS, ADA, and sustainability requirements in partnership with Designer and AOR.
  • Track project progress, manage risks, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Oversee punch list completion and all post-opening documentation.


3. Opening Operations & Cross-Functional Execution

Objective: Ensure seamless coordination across all stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as central point of coordination / communication across Real Estate, Finance, Legal, Lease Admin, Capex, POS, Store Ops, and field team, supported by VP.
  • Track all project milestones, dependencies, and accountability via Monday.com.
  • Lead regular cross-functional meetings (project, budget, capex reviews and other opening schedule communications).
  • Ensure operational readiness for all openings and transitions.
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication on status, risks to the VP
  • Provide guidance, solutions, and plan reviews in collaboration with the Maintenance team, as needed.
  • Prior to the Executive Director’s leave, present supported software alternatives to replace Monday.com; upon approval, independently lead the full transition, including setup, Store Operations team training, and development of training documentation.


4. Financial & Administrative Oversight

Objective: Maintain strict financial discipline and timely project closeouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and manage CAPEX budgets across all projects.
  • Oversee and coordinate PO approval, management, invoice tracking, and budget reconciliation.
  • Submit Tenant Allowance requests and ensure proper documentation.
  • Ensure all project financials are closed accurately and on time.


6. Governance, Reporting & Handover

Objective: Ensure continuity, visibility, and smooth transition before and after the leave period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clear documentation of all projects, decisions, and risks.
  • Escalate critical issues proactively with recommended solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive handover notes for return transition.
  • Up-to-date project trackers and documentation at all times.
  • No loss of continuity across projects during the transition.


Success Profile

  • Strong retail construction project management experience (design + construction exposure).
  • Ability to operate and communicate efficiently across all departments.
  • Financial acumen with CAPEX management experience.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Hands on person willing to get their hands dirty
