Job Description

The Forklift Operator will work on the receiving dock, safely unloading inbound shipments, staging product for put away, and accurately recording inventory using RF scanning equipment and a warehouse management system. This role requires strong stand-up reach truck experience, particularly with Crown equipment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled dock environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use stand-up reach trucks, preferably Crown brand, to move skids from staging areas into warehouse storage locations.
  • Operate cherry picker forklifts (Yale, Crown) to access and transport pallets as needed for put away and inventory movement.
  • Utilize RF scanning equipment to scan barcodes on wrapped skids and accurately enter shipment data into the warehouse management system.
  • Verify received shipments against documentation to ensure accuracy before entering them into the warehouse system.
  • Load and unload trucks efficiently while maintaining safe stacking and handling practices.
  • Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines while working on the receiving dock and inside trailers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized staging and receiving area to support efficient workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate unloading, staging, and put-away priorities.
  • Assist with general receiving, shipping, and inventory tasks as needed to support overall warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of prior forklift operating experience required; 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience operating stand-up reach forklifts, preferably Crown brand equipment.
  • Proficiency operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Experience loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to use RF scanning equipment to scan barcodes and track inventory.
  • Experience entering received shipments into a warehouse management system or similar inventory system.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced, high-traffic receiving dock environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling and recording inventory.
  • Capability to work in a non-climate-controlled dock environment, moving in and out of trailers throughout the shift.

  • Familiarity with Crown stand-up reach trucks.
  • Comfort working with wrapped skids and palletized freight.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with warehouse and operations teams.
  • Demonstrated reliability and a track record of consistent attendance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.81 - $22.81/hr.
