Job Description

As a Quality Technician, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining product quality by conducting line clearance and performing routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products. You will ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the production line and report any non-compliance promptly to prevent potential spoilage. Your contributions will be essential for preserving documentation for quality compliance and supporting product traceability for customer and regulatory audits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct line inspections prior to start-up and verify compliance with the Line Clearance Approval checklist.
  • Perform swab tests and allergen tests, document, and communicate results for production line release.
  • Conduct GMP compliance and in-line process inspections, recording results in SafetyChain.
  • Conduct metal detector tests every two hours for all running lines, recording results in the SafetyChain Metal Detector Check form.
  • Compare analysis results to specifications and inform the QC Supervisor of any non-compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications including labeling, packaging, code dating, and customer requirements.
  • Perform analytical tests using standard methods specific to raw materials or finished products.
  • Tag non-compliant products with 'MRB-HOLD' while on the production floor.
  • Collect retention samples for future reference and traceability or customer complaints.
  • Inspect refrigerated raw materials to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Verify SOP compliance and prepare incident reports promptly.
  • Inspect products for shelf life validation and investigate customer claims of defects.
  • Collect samples for micro and environmental testing as per the established sampling scheme.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials per QC protocol and report non-compliance to the QC Supervisor.
  • Conduct QCP and CCP tests, document results in SafetyChain, and confirm compliance with Food Safety and QM systems.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the lab.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Food Science.
  • Experience in inspection and quality control, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kankakee, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
