Quality & Technical Services Supervisor
Position Overview
The Quality & Technical Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes and providing technical support across manufacturing operations. This role ensures product quality, supports customer requirements, and drives continuous improvement initiatives while acting as a key liaison between production, engineering, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Oversight & Compliance
- Supervise daily quality control and assurance activities within the plant
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Review and approve inspection results, test data, and quality documentation
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Technical Services Support
- Provide technical support to production teams to resolve product and process issues
- Partner with engineering and R&D on product development, trials, and process improvements
- Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing defects and optimizing product performance
Customer & Cross-Functional Support
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers regarding product quality and performance
- Support customer audits, complaints, and product qualification processes
- Collaborate with sales and account management teams on technical inquiries and solutions
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise and mentor quality technicians and lab personnel
- Provide training on quality standards, testing procedures, and best practices
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze quality metrics and identify trends for process improvements
- Drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and enhance product consistency
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence programs
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–7+ years of experience in quality, technical services, or manufacturing environment
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Experience working in manufacturing (film, polymer, plastics, or related industries preferred)
Preferred:
- Experience with film extrusion, coatings, or converting processes
- Familiarity with ISO standards and quality audits
- Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
