Job Summary:

This position is responsible to develop the long-term quality improvement initiatives and strategies aimed at achieving the organizations quality objectives, as well as direct and coordinate the sites Quality Management System (QMS) to be compliant to IATF 16949 requirements. This role exercises authority to organize and direct the plant Quality Engineering team and other stakeholders to meet and exceed customer requirements for quality in a cost-effective manner. This role also serves as lead to ensure contact with customers for quality elements to provide feedback and technical support for Quality related issues to drive continuous improvement. Further, this position is a key contributor in generating year over year reduced operating expenses, improved productivity, and cost reductions for the applicable site.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead action plans to improve the Quality Management System to be compliant to intra-company, customer, and regulatory requirements (IATF16949) and work with corporate quality to ensure alignment globally
  • Develop and lead programs to reduce, control and measures cost of quality.
  • Exercise authority to establish and achieve quality standards and procedures that result in customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor performance, lead and support customer concerns/complaints and give early warning to relevant departments as to problems highlighted.
  • Monitor and update the capability of measurement and testing equipment while making recommendations and suggestions as to efficiency and suitability.
  • Support and deploy training programs for production personnel in the areas of problem solving and process control via statistical techniques.
  • Develop programs for the use of statistical techniques in continual improvement efforts and provide management with periodic reports of use of statistical techniques.
  • Provide development and training of the plant Quality Engineering staff to ensure competency with current techniques, developments and requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs by proactively addressing areas of weakness within the quality system to drive improvement.
  • Support and coach problem solving in causal analysis and corrective action requirements generated from Customer Concerns and provide management with reports on customer concern activities.
  • Support new product launch to ensure products meet AIAG automotive quality requirements defined by the Customers
  • Other responsibilities or projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Degree, certification, or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing environment, with 5 years of experience in Quality Supervisor/Management role.
  • Statistical Process Control and Statistical problem-solving certification such as 6-Sigma Black Belt and/or Shainin is preferred
  • Must be able to effectively train others in AIAG Quality Core Tools.
