Quality Manager (Mechanical / Civil Construction)
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Duration: Long Term Contract (11 Months+)
Compensation: $60/hour
Per Diem: $178/day
Hours: 50 per week
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to support the construction of a utility-scale power generation project in Iowa. This field-based role will oversee mechanical and civil quality activities, ensuring construction work is performed in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee project quality assurance and quality control activities throughout construction.
- Conduct routine field inspections to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review contractor and vendor quality documentation, submittals, and inspection records.
- Manage nonconformance reports and corrective action processes.
- Perform internal and external quality audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor implementation and effectiveness of the project quality management system.
- Review turnover and project closeout documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and provide guidance on quality related matters.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to resolve quality issues and construction discrepancies.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction quality management, quality assurance, or quality control.
- Experience supporting large industrial, utility, energy, power generation, or heavy construction projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction quality processes, inspections, audits, and documentation control.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Utility or power industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel between project locations as required.
Project Details
This position will support the construction of a natural gas fired power generation facility in Iowa. The project includes the installation of multiple reciprocating internal combustion engine generators and associated balance of plant infrastructure. The selected candidate will split time between two active project sites within the state.
