Job Title: Quality Inspector (1st and 2nd Shift)
Job Description
The Quality Inspector ensures that automotive parts meet established quality standards by inspecting, testing, and documenting product quality throughout the production process. This role works on 1st or 2nd shift in a high-volume metal stamping environment, performing detailed measurements, reading blueprints, and collaborating closely with production teams to maintain consistent quality and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Establish and follow quality standards for automotive products within a steel and metal stamping environment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to verify that production operations meet required standards.
- Inspect and test finished products using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Document defects, nonconformances, and any necessary adjustments in a clear and accurate manner.
- Remove products that do not meet production standards and ensure they are properly segregated and documented.
- Recommend strategies and corrective actions to improve product quality and reduce recurring defects.
- Accept or reject finished products based on inspection results and established quality criteria.
- Discuss inspection findings with the production team to resolve issues and support process improvements.
- Perform quality checks consistently throughout production runs to maintain process control.
- Handle and move parts safely, including heavy lifting and pulling of items up to approximately 30 pounds.
- Work across multiple buildings and production areas as needed to support quality inspection needs.
- Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
Essential Skills
- 2–5 years of quality inspection experience, preferably in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the steel and metal stamping industry.
- Proficiency with gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Strong quality control and quality inspection skills, including visual and dimensional inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and pulling of parts and materials up to approximately 30 pounds.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting inspection results and defects.
- Ability to communicate inspection findings clearly to production and other team members.
- Comfort working overtime, including 45–50 hours per week and mandatory weekend overtime 1–2 times per month.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a metal stamping environment is highly beneficial.
- Background working around or with welding processes, such as MIG welding, is a plus.
- Familiarity with progressive presses and automated production equipment is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with production teams.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $41600.00/yr.
